Kylie’s Day

This short video piece was made for World Animal Protection’s campaign against the entry of mega-dairies into the UK. Central to the campaign was the notion that cows are sentient beings, whose welfare is a matter of ethical importance.

Mega-dairies—which keep cows in their thousands indoors and at very close quarters—are commonplace in the US. With their low milk production costs, commercial farming interests have recently been attempting to introduce them into the UK.

Kylie’s Day documents the life of a dairy cow of strong character, following the daily routine of her dairy herd. It was shot at Riverford Organic Farm, a dairy known for its high standards of animal welfare.
